MDIA aims to build a comprehensive, coordinated workforce development system that will solve the industry’s two immediate needs: acquiring skilled workers and upskilling its current workforce.

After retiring from a 38-year career spent at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine, Andrew “Andy” Roy now serves as the Executive Director of MDIA. As a Maine native who rose from an entry-level trainee to a senior manager, he leverages his deep expertise in defense workforce planning and industrial engineering to grow Maine's defense industry.
